A little about the official IBF Biodanza East Coast USA communityWelcome to Biodanza East Coast USA!
Biodanza East Coast USA was founded in August 2009 by intrepid me, Michelle Dubreuil, a modern day pioneer of Biodanza I guess you could say.... a somatic modality that is a "new" and revolutionary paradigm for healing in our days. Biodanza is a fascinating and unique movement methodology fairly new to the US so you may not be familiar with it. I discovered Biodanza in Johannesburg, South Africa and then, much to my delight, a sister Biodanza school in San Francisco and was THRILLED and happy to be working on the East coast to open up spaces for new people to dance in my home country! After my 2009 return from this epic 14 years in Africa where I had been initially teaching on a Fulbright Scholarship in Benin, West Africa and then living life thereafter on the continent in various countries, I began facilitating Biodanza and opening spaces up and down the East Coast of the USA for people to experience the "poetry of human encounter", as we call it. First in Maryland, next workshops in Miami in 2010 when I would visit my parents who lived there, and then on to NYC weekly classes, some workshops in Philly, the Omega Institute at Rhinebeck for Family Week, a slotted weekend workshop at Kripalu, New Hampshire Dance Camp a few times, Connecticut classes in Ridgefield, facilitating in San Francisco, offering workshops back in South Africa and at the Biodanza Congress in Holland, as well.... planting the seeds and putting my "blood, sweat and tears" into this beautiful system that heals mind, body, spirit. I am keen to open another certified International Biodanza Federation School of Biodanza in the USA (the first is in San Francisco, the second in LA). It will open its doors September 2024 so get your application in. At it's core, it's really a development for your humanhood and requires a 3 year training. So, it's not a fly by night, boom! you're trained in a weekend kind of thing. It's serious and deep stuff...but super fun and invigorating and will point your towards your North Star. It's 14 weekends, at first, after which you can decide whether the methodological Biodanza teacher training (another 14 weekends) is for you or not. It is open to all and is amazing.
