My Work in Africa
In 1995 I moved to Benin Africa on a Fulbright to teach. I met and married my husband and four years later we moved on to Kampala, Uganda for 3+ years. After that, we moved on to South Africa where I discovered Biodanza and did my training in the Johannesburg School of Biodanza. I completed the training for Biodanza, Children/Youth/Families in South Africa, Biodanza Voice & Percussion in Brazil and Biodanza for Organizations in San Fran. In between, I went to Brazil and Milan to study under the Biodanza founder, Rolando Araneda Toro, and received my Didact Training Diploma in 2010. At that point, my family of 5 had moved to Lusaka, Zambia.
There, I began facilitating Biodanza for children at the American International School. I was fortunate enough to have a space at my home to offer classes and began offering classes for adults. Students from the Psychology Dept at the University of Kampala began coming to weekly classes mixed with others from the community.
As part of the aspect of SOCIAL ACTION in Biodanza, I also began offering weekly classes at the local Catholic hospice in Kalinglinga in Lusaka, Zambia to the caretakers most of whom were HIV+ but working and of service to those in the hospice.
